A truly amazing fact is buried way down in this story about the Royals' new rookie pitcher Jimmy Gobble: he had never attended a major league baseball game before becoming a Royal this weekend.

"I always told myself, when I hit 10 or 11, I never wanted to go to a game because I wanted to see the first one from the dugout or the mound," he said. "So it was just kind of a little thing my dad and me had going. Hey, first time you're out there, make it be on the field, so that's really what I worked for."
